aside from wrapped playlists or last.fm stats. because sure, i did listen frank iero's cover of fade into you by mazzie star 72 times in one sitting and catapulted it fifty spaces up in the ranks. yes i did loop ls dunes paper tigers for six hours. often. thats just a regular wednesday. i dont need a fancy graphic to tell my instagram story that. but what does that actually say about my likes in the broad picture.
truth is, those statistics dont often reflect your actual favourite songs of the year, or the most impactful.
if you discover a banger in january, it has much more time to be listened to than songs you discover later in the year. my boy markus ivi didnt even get the chance to appear in the spotify statistics bc i discovered his music in november and november doesnt count as 2025 anymore according to spotify. sometimes you love songs but dont listen to them as often as to others because you have someone sitting next to you in the car that you know would rather climb out through the window than listen to whatever you are about to put on.
and sometimes you just listen to bangers less than you could because i dont know. we all have different ways of life. so anyways. here's my personal 100 favourite songs that i didnt necessarily discover in 2025, but were my favourites to listen to that year. in order of alphabet and i am leaving out frank, ls dunes, mcr and joker out bc their whole discography would be here, i dont need to type that all out for you.
