being vegetarian will make a lot of people around you be really annoying about what you choose to eat or not eat because apparently no one around you has hobbies or whatever. also gets you fun comments such as "you're eating my food's food BWAHAHAHA" or "i could never just live off of rabbit food BWAHAHA" to which i just have to say. first of all whats your beef with rabbits huh? why are you bringing them into this and dissing their diet? and second of all rabbit food fucking rules. when i see a rabbit chow down on a fresh bundle of dandelion i am jealous. i wish i could truly appreciate the rabbit perspective experience of ripping up mouthfuls of fresh grass from the lawn.
anyways here's some salads in my camera roll that i made my mouth water from just looking at them enough that i had to take a picture to keep that moment forever.
most recent one, eaten yesterday. most of my salads dont have a whole lot of variation, just a heads up. why mess with perfection and all that, you know? also salad is crazy expensive here so i mostly keep it to the most basic ingredients, so here you get: mixed shredded salad, cucumber, tomato, mozzarella and halloumi cheese. 10/10 truly can never go wrong + halloumi is always a banger.
same basics, but slight variation. instead of halloumi, we have mozarella sticks instead, as well as feta cheese and some leftover cheddar that i chopped up. 10/10 this was also fantastic. reminds me i need to buy feta cheese tomorrow..
now honestly, there isnt much to say about this one. its down to the basics, we dont even have any fun toppings. but i did put it in a fancy soup bowl which was fun and definitely elevated the eating experience drastically. 7/10 for taste 13/10 for presentation.
another classic, feta cheese and broccoli on top. raw broccoli goes so incredibly hard, sometimes i just chop half a head up and snack it with some tzatziki or balsamic sauce. 10/10 havent eaten this in a while and probably should again hmm..
last variation of the basics and this one was so good and looked so satisfying even before the first bite that youre getting a second angle. pan roasted gnocchis and parmesan cheese on top. absolute game changer. the gnocchi were crispy on the outside, soft and chewy on the inside and its always so good to have something freshly warm on your crispy salad. 100/10 this was so unbelievably good i just wish the only store that sold gnocchi wasnt an hour away and also cost 50kr per bag.
salad base with roasted zucchini, sweet potato and paprika on top. didnt taste much like a salad but thats not always a bad thing i think? it wasnt as refreshing as a fresh crispy salad, but very hearty. 10/10 because even though i have mixed feeling about this, it was delicious and my sister made a vegan sour cream sauce for it that really made it so much better.
technically this is not a pure salad meal, but also there is two salads in this picture so that evens it out maybe. crushed veggie patties with some melted cheese, some basic side salad and some potato side salad. this very much was a "fuck its a sunday what do i even have in the house to eat" meal but it was a very satisfying eat. taking bits of the salads on the fork and then some of the patty mmmm yeah i should do that again. 10/10 good meal.
straight from the bag. well, washed. sometimes the best salad is just the salad itself in the realest sense. washed under some cold water and then just take a big bite. if youve never done this i dont know how to help you. i do recommend you do this over a sink though as there will be water dripping and running down your hand and arm. its a little animalistic. but few things slap as hard as a big bite of fresh salad when youre not just hungry but also very thirsty. 100/10 the rabbits know whats good.
honorary mention cucumber salad. ive met people in my life that didnt accept its position in the hall of fame of salad and others that just dont get the point. how i pity those who feel like they are above the humble cucumber salad.. "its just cucumber." actually its also vinegar and oil and water and salt and sugar. dont speak to my beloved in that tone. i had phases in my childhood where i begged my mom to let me eat this every day so she made big bowls of it to keep in the fridge for a few days so i could eat a portion every day with dinner but sometimes i would also sneak into the kitchen and steal a slice or two. 100/10 even better with radishes but who can afford those here lets be honest.
well. that is all the salads i could find in my camera roll for now but trust that 2026 will be another big year for salad. every year is a big year for salad in sophie world. <3
